There is a revolution to save the coral reefs around the world. So what is the hashtag #IYOR2018 mean.The International Year of the Reef (IYOR) 2018 is a year-long campaign of events and initiatives to promote coral reef conservation #IYOR2018. The month of May 2018 is particularly a significant month in saving the coral reefs.
Has anyone wondered how the eighteen billion ton of plastic got in the oceans i the first place. It is being reported by the National Geographic every year 18 billion tons plastic end up in the ocean.
Who put it there. Whoever put the plastic in the Ocean should be held responsible. Because the ocean is not a compost.
Luis Solórzano, Executive Director for The Nature Conservancy in the Caribbean says:
"Now more than ever, as coral reefs face an increasing number of threats, it is critical to help Caribbean countries dependent on healthy reefs for their economic prosperity and their safety to protect their marine resources."
I remember as if it was yesterday several years ago in 2011, going to see "Coral Reef Adventure" at the Imax Theater with my young son . We spent most of our time that year educating ourselves with films that now mean little. Boy has time changed nature. Even then, there was ample talk about deteriorating nature. We were being embellished in theaters with beauty of the Corral reefs and other natural habitats. But all these documentaries were more part of collection for a museum of what once was then what it truly is now in 2018.
But it is never too late, to cultivate, restore, regrowth, and rebirth for a beautiful future of what once used to be.
God has given us that grace to take care of what was cultivated first in the Garden of Eden.
One great way is to participate and #plantatree #operationreleaf. Trees produce the cooling of the planet. Do something special next month and participate for Ocean Day on June 8 and on September 26 for Tree Day or Arbor Day date varies.
On Ocean day artist get together to create art from their local habitats threatened by polluted waters. As seen in the Time 2017 article entitled " 13 Artist who Turned Ocean Trash Into Art:.
Another way to help the deteriorating planet is to not buy merchandise you do not need. Buy less the environment gains mores. Reuse, reduce and recycle items. Donating items such as clothing and furniture instead of trashing them to the garbage.
