VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — According to AP:

Two earthquakes have struck off the northern coast of the Canadian province of British Columbia Sunday but there were no immediate reports of damage. The United States Geological Survey said the first earthquake, measuring magnitude 6.5, happened around 3:20 p.m. local time.

It was located off the tip of Haida Gwaii, an archipelago located about 1,720 kilometers (1,069 miles) north of Vancouver. It was 176 km west off  of Bella Bella. A second earthquake, measuring magnitude 4.5, occurred about an hour later in the same area. The U.S. Tsunami Warning Center reported that there was no threat of a tsunami from the quakes.

Using data updates from USGS, it was reported on September 15, 2024 at 22:34 the magnitude was  recalculated from 6.6 to 6.5. As well as the Hypocenter depth recalculated from 33.0 to 10.0 km (from 21 to 6.2 mi) and the epicenter location corrected by 28 km (17 mi) towards SSW.

The 6.5 magnitude was near Marshal island 268 km SSW OF Kitimat Canada at 3:22 pm the shallow of 10 km.  Nearby the Milbanke Sound which extends east from Queen Charlotte Sound, with Price Island on the west, Swindle Island on the north, and the Bardswell Group of islands on the south. There is a dormant volcano called located on Canada, 52.5°N / -128.73°W. The volcano is  1099 feet. Milbanke Sound volcanic field in NW British Columbia, Canada is a group of cinder cones and lava flows on Swindle, Lake, Price, and Lady Douglas Islands in Milbanke Sound. The best preserved and probably youngest cone is Kitasu hill rising from the southern coast of Swindle Island. The earthquake was felt by atleast 4500 people. It produced an estimated seismic energy released of 6.3 x 1013 joules (17.5 gigawatt hours, equivalent to 15, 080 tons of TNT or 0.9 atomic bombs very close to one atomic bomb which produces 20, 000 tons of TNT destroying 80 square miles.

On September 18, 2024 there will be a supermoon partial lunar eclipse. Will it bring more significant earthquakes? Scientist are saying that the Moon will come very close to the Earth which means a strong gravitational pull shift will bring more earthquakes on that day, volcanic eruptions and strong tidal waves. The Lunar Eclipse will be seen in North America.

Fifteen hours later, a very strong magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred in the North Pacific Ocean 140 km (87 mi) from  Northern Mariana Islands in the evening of Monday, Sep 16, 2024 at 9.36 pm local time (GMT +10). The quake had a very shallow depth of 33 km (20 mi) and was felt widely in the area. The shallow depth of the quake caused it to be felt more strongly near the epicenter than a deeper quake of similar magnitude would. N E of 263 Saipan.

Significant earthquake of magnitude 6.3 just reported 152 km southeast of Patik Camp, Northern Mariana Islands the nearest volcano Guguan (144 km / 89 mi) , United States, Mariana Islands, 17.31°N / 145.85°E. The Guguan Stratovolcano is 287 m / 942 ft and it is dormant.

Five minutes later after the near Mariana Islands Earthquake on September 16, 2024 11:40:51 UTC there was another super deep earthquake 465 km to be exact and not too far from the off the coast of British Columbia, Canada. In Japan's local time at epicenter on Monday, Sep 16, 2024, at 08:40 pm (GMT +9) a 5.9 magnitude. The epicenter latitude / longitude 39.517°N / 144.404°E Japan. Estimated seismic energy released was 2.2 x 1013 joules (6.22 gigawatt hours, equivalent to 5351 tons of TNT or 0.3 atomic bombs.
